Today I was quoted in the Daily Mail in a piece by Alice Smellie on the trend for childish jewellery, Childish charms with grown-up price tags. The article explored the recent vogue for quirky, fun jewels being produced by serious jewellery houses, such as the Chanel AW14 costume jewellery collections from the now legendary supermarket show. The Chanel cuff decorated with resin sweets in the shape of the classic interlocking CC logo got a special mention, as it should.
And now, bizarrely enough, to quote myself: “It is an extrapolation of the Pop Art and graffiti trends that have been featured on the catwalks. Just as catwalk clothing trends filter down to the high street, so do jewellery looks. Those in the know will recognise how on-trend you are. These trinkets are like statement handbags.”
